SGA offers a wide array of programs and services designed to enhance your experience at Illinois State University, as well as advocating for student needs. Initiatives are broken down into the following categories:
SGA sponsors and/or delivers a number of recurring activities. Programs are generally designed to improve campus life and/or seek the feedback of ISU students. For example, the Pack the House and Pack the Place programs have been successful in bringing students out to support both athletic and cultural events.
SGA has developed specific initiatives designed to improve the student experience at ISU, based on a need that has been identified through constituent feedback. The Geoperks student discount program, The Calculator & Clicker Lending Programs, as well as the SGA Discount Card, are example of services designed to improve student life at ISU.
SGA responds to specific areas of concern based on the feedback of students. In some cases, external committees or task forces are created to address specific problems. In others cases, SGA can advocate on behalf of specific students and their individual situations. As a result of previous student feedback, SGA has established external committees on diversity, sustainability, and campus safety.
SGA is sometimes called upon to provide assistance in cases where University services are already provided to address that specific need. In those cases, SGA will work with students to make sure that they can get referred to the appropriate office/individual.
